New Employment Regulation Order (ERO) for the Security Industry

A new ERO which replaces the 2023 ERO came into effect from the 1 July 2024. It sets out the minimum rates of pay and other terms and conditions for persons employed in the security industry.

Rates of remuneration

 A worker to whom this Order applies ( subject to paragraph 3) shall be remunerated at a minimum hourly rate of €14.50 per hour.

Unsocial hours premium

An unsocial hours premium of €12.60 to be paid for hours worked between 21.00 hours and 7.00 hours, provided the worker works at least 3 hours in that period. This increases to €16.80 from 1 January 2025 and to €20.00 from the 1 January 2026.

Overtime rates

All hours worked in excess of 48 hours per week in the roster cycle will be paid at a rate of time and a half.
