In August 2022 the High Court granted an injunction prohibiting the Minister from commencing the proposed Statutory Instrument giving effect to the new ERO for the Security Industry. The increases announced by the Minister will not have statutory effect pending the lifting of the injunction.
Update - 16th of August 2022
On the 3rd of August 2020 Minister English accepted a proposal for an ERO for the Security Industry effective from the 29th of August 2022. Update – 25th of July 2022
Following a public hearing on the 7th of June 2022, the Labour Court adopted amended proposals of the Security Industry JLC on the 18th of July 2022 and a copy of the proposals was sent to the Minister on Thursday the 21st of July 2022.

Hearing of the Court on the 7th of June 2022
On the 21st of March 2022 the Court held a public hearing where two issues regarding the jurisdiction of the Court to proceed with the hearing were raised.
The Court determined that the proposal of the Security Industry Joint Labour Committee was properly before it and that it would proceed to hear all parties on the substantive issue in accordance with section 42B (12) of the Industrial Relations Act 1946.
This hearing will take place at 10.00 am in Lansdowne House on the 7th of June 2022. The hearing will be a public hearing.
Update - 14th April 2022
Decision of the Court in respect of two preliminary issues.
A Division of the Court at a hearing held on the 21st of March 2022 heard all parties who wished to be heard in respect of two preliminary matters.

Update - 10th February 2022
As a result of a settlement agreement reached in December 2021, the Security ERO as approved by the Minister and the Labour Court’s decision to adopt the proposals from the Security Industry Joint Labour Committee have been quashed and the matter remitted back to the Labour Court for a new decision with liberty for the Labour Court to request further submissions/ direct the holding of an oral hearing.
The Division met on the 7 February 2022 and decided to direct a holding of an oral hearing of all interested parties desiring to be heard.
The hearing will take place from 10 a.m. onwards on the 21 March 2022 at the Labour Court in Lansdowne House, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4. Interested parties who have not already made submissions or wish to update existing submissions are required to submit same to the Court no later than 5p.m. on Friday the 4 March 2022.
Submissions can be sent by ordinary post or by email to jlcsecretary@enterprise.gov.ie. All submissions will be published on the Court’s website no later than Wednesday the 9 March 2022.
